Harry Potter mirror of Erised

Post by Ghawk »

Made this for my daughter. I run VCarve pro on a home built cnc (48"" x 96")
Mirror is 66"x36".

Excellent work. I like the attention to detail. Good choice on the typeface. Can you describe the finishing process?

WOW... That is really nice!!!!

Is that a 3D model or did you create it all in VCarve?

Thanks for sharing.

I used MDF for the frame. Component pieces of trim were made on the cnc and then assembled.

Finished with Annie Sloan black chalk paint, followed by gold gilding wax, and then clear wax.

Almost all in vCarve. It is a buildup of components designed in vCarve that were each done on the cnc as separate pieces. I used sketchup to make a couple moulding shapes, imported them as stl and then added the dots and vcarved lines projected onto the surface.

Black Chalk paint, then gold gilding wax, and clear wax, then buff.
