Stair Maker Gadget

Post by Waggs45 »

Hi guys I hope everyone's doing okay this Halloween. I am currently on a mission to rebuild my back porch steps. I came across a gadget while using aspire 12 That seems to be very helpful for this, the easy stare maker gadget. I cannot find a whole lot online at all about this gadget. Are quite a few videos about coding on this gadget but that's very useless to me as I'm not a coder. I think I have basically figured it out but I still do have a couple of doubts and my biggest one is does this build my stairs up to floor level? It would be very useful if someone is familiar enough with this gadget to put up a video that details exactly what everything is. Anyhow I'm sure one of you guys know all about it and hopefully can help me out with this. Thanks everyone

Hello Waggs45,

I am the guy that wrote the gadget. It was a gadget we used for writing gadget project. It should be able to draw the stringer for you. What question do you have?

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. ALSO REALLY LOVE YOUR GADGETS THEY ARE SUPER USEFUL. OK BACK TO MY QUESTION, THE STRINGER THAT THIS DRAWS UP FOR ME WILL IT GO UP TO MY FINISHED FLOOR MARK OR DOES IT TAKE ME TO A RISERS LENGTH BELOW IT? I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE BECause THIS IS THE FIRST STAIRS IVE DONE AND IM DOING THEM WITH ASPIRE.
STRINGER PICS OF MY QUESTION
STRINGER PICS OF MY QUESTION
IVE ATTACHED A PIC I FOUND THAT WILL PROBABLY HELP YOU UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION. THANKS ALOT

The stringer that this gadget produces takes you to (1) riser below your finished floor.

As a Carpenter who fabricates and installs many stair sets each year, I strongly recommend against using this gadget.

It would be easier for me to offer up (2) files for you to review….(1) file using the Stair Gadget and (1) file drawn correctly. I can generate a random start number to use or you could provide me with an actual number. This would be preferable as you would have an actual file to cut from.

I ask for only a little info from you:

1. The height from finished floor (or grade) to finished floor (top of deck).
2. Tread thickness. You say this is for your porch so I will assume it will either be 5/4” or 1 1/2”.
3. Will you be using closed risers or have open risers? If using closed risers, what thickness?
4. Will you want the top tread level/flush with your finished floor (deck) or (1) riser/tread below?

Since this is for your porch, head room and overall stringer run should not be a concern.

I applaud you for wanting to do this yourself and it is a relatively straight forward task once proper numbers are generated.

hey thanks so much for offering to help me out on this. its a small stretch of stairs really. the ones that were up never looked right to start with and now they just need replacing so here i am. as for the measurements you asked for , it is 28 inches from ground to finished floor height, 5/4 will be my choice for tread thickness and i think im going to leave the riser open on this. i think that was all u said u needed but if there is something else just let me know. Again thanks alot for taking the time to do this for me

There are 2 sets in the file. One for flushing out at the top and the other for one step down. Glad to help with any further assistance.
