Box creator LUA error (with screenshot)

I just upgraded to “Pro” mainly because of Gadgets.

Right away I created a project and installed and started the Box Creator gadget.

I got the following screen

Where did you download the gadget from? That error usually occurs because you've downloaded the wrong version of the gadget for the version of Cut2D/VCarve/Aspire you're using.

For v12 you need this one - https://gadgets.vectric.com/V12/box_creator

I downloaded and installed the software using the links on the Vectric website.

I would have deleted the install and tried again but I don’t see a provision for deleted an installed gadget.

You don't need to delete it. Installing a new version will overwrite the other.

The user interface is displayed and I can make selections.

I get the error when I click on “OK” AND when I leave the gadget by clicking “Cancel”.

If I leave without clicking “OK”, I don’t get any error.

I also don’t get the error when I just close the gadget window.

I reinstalled… no change.

I’m running VCarve Pro 12.010

Oh ok, when you said you were getting the error straightaway I assume you meant as you soon as you clicked on the gadget in the menu.

Have you selected a tool? Without a tool selected you will probably get that error.

Thank you. I hadn’t selected a tool.

I think an error message that said “No tool selected” might have been more appropriate, but now I know.

I've lost my patience.... $500 to upgrade to "Pro" and my main reason isn't working...

I'll try again tomorrow.

That doesn’t quite answer the question. There are four links on the Vectric site that could have been used:

• this won’t work in v12
• this might work in v12
• this also might work in v12
• this does work in v12 (mine does)

Also, if the gadget gives you a default setting for a box to start with then use it as a test of its installation. Don’t spend time and effort trying to create one of your own.

Get used to the tool first and then apply it.
