Gadget does not show in list?

Good day.
Today I install the tool renumber gadget...and works fine but when I installed it on my other pc with vcarve it does not show up in the list.
It does tell me that it is installed but nothing...restarted Vcarve, pc and nothing.

Is there a solution to this?

How are you installing it? Double click from Windows, from the Gadgets menu or manually?

Just a note here Concerning any Gadgets.

Anytime you install a Gadget into either V-Carve Pro or Aspire you must Restart the Vectric program for it to recognize it. There are certain aspects of the gadget that need certain things to recognize from Windows before any gadget can function correctly.

After installing any Gadget via the Vectric Software Splash Screen Gadgets Menu > Install New Gadget you can check to see if it is installed by Looking in the Gadgets Menu on the same Splash Screen Gadgets Menu. If your Gadget is satisfactorly installed it will show here. You then close the Vectric Program and restart it to activate any Gadgets that may have been installed.

no matter how I try to install it does not show up...either by the menu or to doubleclick on the gadget file itself.
I am running vcarve 11.554 on the laptop and it installed seamlessly...but on my other pc I cannot get it to work. a bit older 11.something

Should I try to copy the whole gadgets folder?

You do know that you are to change the .zip extension to .vgadget extension before installing, RIGHT?

yes I did rename the extension. pics attached.
It weird...maybe I just move the tool database or update the other version...or wait till I upgrade to v12.

I did patch the version to 11.554 to try it out and nothing....any next steps to get it working?

I just installed the chamfer in and out gadget to test and it shows in the list...but the tool renumber gadget doesn't...weird.

The tool renumber gadget isn't an installer though unless there's a version of it I don't know about. You need to manually copy the folder to the Vectric Files gadget folder for your software.

It worked fine for me.

Also note that there are multiple versions posted at the thread for Tool Renumber. Apparently the first one was made with an incompatible zip compressor.

The one located here when renamed to: Tool_Renumber.vgadget should install properly (it does on my setup).

Also, be aware that depending how your Windows installation displays or doesn't display) file extensions you might be renaming the file to Tool_Renumber.vgadget.zip andnot be aware of it. See here.

got somewhere...I downloaded the latest from the link renamed the zip to vgadget it installed and shows in the list.

When I click o to start with number 1 and generate text file it tells me the tool number where unchanged and does generate an empty txt file. :/

anything else I should look for. right now I cannot even copy the tool database from my laptop since the battery is dead...

If the first toolpath has a tool number that is the same as the chosen start number then nothing is updated as far as I can see. You need to change that first tool number manually or set the number higher.

Ok i got it working....
Funny thing is I always thought this tool renumbers every tool in the database so there is not 2 tools with different numbers...
but it renumbers tools in the toolpaths...so what method do you guys use to keep all the tools in the database correctly numbered?

I set the tool numbers myself. When I first started in CNC I spend literally days setting up every single bit I owned in the database. 25 years later and the number of bit definitions I've used is in single digits.

Correctly numbered is different from setup to setup as well depending on your control software, the type of tool changer you have, number of banks etc etc.
