Easy Flag Maker Gadget
I can't get the Easy Flag Maker gadget to install. I downloaded the .zip file, extracted it to a folder on my desktop named (EasyFlagMaker.vgadget) But when I go to "Install New Gadget" it doesn't recognize that folder. What am I missing?

Still doesn't seem to recognize it. The folder shows it's there. The name looks correct, but it won't drop down to the "file name" box to be opened. It's like the name is not what it's looking for. Do I need to have a project open or something? I did try that, but it didn't help.

Re: Easy Flag Maker Gadget
If you are using V-Carve Desktop gadgets are not allowed in that version of software.
If you are using V-Carve Pro or Aspire then
1.) Open V-Carve or Aspire First Screen
2.) Click on Gadgets
3.) Then Click Install New Gadget (see attached) 4.) Should look like This Next 5.) Find your Gadget that you are trying to install it should look like the item in red (above image)
6.) Once it is installed Close V-Carve
7.) RE-Open
8.) V-Carve setup a project
9.) Click on Gadget menu at top again to find your gadget which you had installed.

I'm using Aspire 11.504. Downloaded the EasyFlagMaker.zip from the forum. Changed the file name to EasyFlagMaker.vgadget. Saved it to my desktop. Opened Aspire, Clicked Install New Gadget. went to desktop. the folder is there named EasyFlagMaker.vgadget (see previous post picture). But it doesn't recognize it and won't open.

Re: Easy Flag Maker Gadget
I expect what’s happening is Windows’ long-standing perverse desire to hide filename extensions from people. See the “Note” in the last entry at this link.
I think when you renamed the xyz.zip file to what you thought was xyz.vgadget you were actually getting xyz.vgadget.zip so that the install from within VCarve was unzipping the zip file to the desktop.
Curse you Microsoft… This is the fourth or fifth of these such posts in the last couple of weeks. I am this close to lobbying Vectric for a sticky post in the Gadget User Submissions forum on this subject.

Adze_cnc, yes that's it. I had a suspected it might be something with the name, but didn't know where to look. I know I'm showing my age, but DOS wasn't really all that hard to use. Windows XP worked fine for me too. Windows 7 through 11 hasn't made my life any better. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Apple (Mac) does also. "Show extensions" is not on by default. It was that way a few years ago but I haven't done anything with a Mac in a while. I think in Linux you don't even have a choice.
