Turned Pattern x leg error

Post by Raney618 »

Hi

I am new to gadgets and Turned Profile. I use vcarve 11. Turned Profile continuously says my x legs don’t start at the same point and I think are not the same length sometimes. I use the rectangle creator and only use numbers so the rectangle that I modify with half circles can’t be off. At least that seems correct to me. I can’t seem to get by this error. Can you help?

John

Can you upload your CRV or CRV3D file?

If the file is too large to upload here you can use a file sharing site such as drive.google.com, onedrive.com, or dropbox.com. They all have free accounts available
  • Upload the file to the file sharing site
  • Make the link shareable
  • Share the link to the file here

Hi Randall

I attached the *.crv file that is giving me the x legs error as you requested. Hope it goes through.

on another topic. is there a Gcode editor that will check syntax as you build a file. Will CONTROL do it. if so i have not be able to figure it out.
Will notebook ++ do it but it doesn't seem to support gcode. Is there a gcode file that gives it that capability.

Thanks again for all your help.

You don't need the far left vector, only the legs. Also the legs appear to be way too long for your model.

Thanks gkas

I was able to create a toolpath but what i got was not as expected. The carving was not all around the cylinder. It looks like only partially. Would you mind taking a look again for the novias. I sent you the *.crv file again as test flute #4 to this post using onedrive. I hope i did things correct.

Thanks for your help in advance

I don't see a file. Turn and spin only gives you half the profile.

Here is another way to do it with the moulding toolpath.

Randall looking forward to trying your suggestion but docs have been all over us. Might take a few days to give it a try

I use an X-to-A post processor since my rotary is parallel to the Y axis.

How is your rotary set up? Is it parallel to the X or the Y axis?

Yes, my 4th axis is parallel to my Y axis. Also my y axis, as part of a workbee is driven by 2 steppers. I moved the x axis stepper wire to the rotary. Should I use a
Rotary_Wrap_X = “A” statement. Is that the correct syntax and what I want to put in my post processor. I decided to modify a wrapper pp from wrap y to wrap x. It is a good gcode learning exercise.

Thanks for your thoughts

On the Workbee, how do you tell it to move in degrees rather than inches/millimeters?
