Task: Need to embelish top of domed box with spiral using gadget.
Issue 1: Spiral creates open vectors so "Vcarve" toolpaths won't work. That leaves "Profiling" "on the line" with a vee bit. Vcarve toolpaths can float on top of the model surface while I don't see any way to do that with Profiles.
Am I missing something? or is there yet another way to superimpose the generated spiran onto the dome?
Issue 2: log spirals seem to use the "center of mass" as the anchor instead of the start point of the spiral which I expected. Easy to move it manually but the move must be redone if the spiral is resized.
Thanks.

Re: Issue using V9 Spiral gadget
You can project a profile toolpath just as you can with a v-carve toolpath. Most likely thing is you haven't checked the "Show advanced toolpath options" in the profile toolpath so you can't see the "Project toolpath onto 3D model" checkbox as you can with the v-carve toolpath.

Thanks all for the replies. And yes, I had not clicked Advanced options. Doh!
Any ideas why the log spirals are not centered on the anchor point?

I think it's just the way the gadget is written. In the example, the spiral and the dome are centered. The vector just doesn't begin at the center.Old_Rustic wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 1:59 amThanks all for the replies. And yes, I had not clicked Advanced options. Doh!
