If you use the normal dovetail gadget you can make the sides without dovetails on the bottom. Little bit more work though.

This looks like a pretty cool gadget. Maybe I am asking too much... Thanks
I tested using the node edit mode to delete the dovetails on the bottom- when I recalculated, the imported pin carvings created an error, but that didn't seem to have an effect on the rest of the recalculation and it (appears) to have worked!

not a perfect workaround, but it seems to be a workaround for this very cool gadget. I'm quite excited to give it an actual try on my machine :)

Hope this helps-
Lawrence

its there now, just downloaded it
http://gadgets.vectric.com/V9/box_creator.html
I have downloaded that particular file and it does not install. Noted that the file extension is .vgadget and not .exe so this is probably why it would not install.

Vgadget is the correct extension for V9 products that support gadgets. They can be installed by double clicking the file or by using the Install option on the gadgets menu.

It's not available on the pre-version 9 gadget site and the v9 format gadgets won't install in earlier versions.

The dovetail gadget is available though and you can make boxes with that - http://gadgets.vectric.com/V8/dovetail.html

Which gadget are you referring to? This thread has discussed at least three at various times.

Generally if you get an error extracting the vgadget file it shows that the download didn't complete properly. Re-downloading it should solve the issue.

Hi All

Prior to version 9 I don't think there was a release version of this gadget. It just lived on my computer and was shared around the office. Since then we have release a version:

Version 9:
http://www.vectric.eu/gadgets/V9/Vectri ... et.vgadget

Version 10:
http://storage.vectric.com/gadgets/V10/ ... ll.vgadget

Both should install correctly, as Adrian points out the vgadget file is mostly a renamed zip file so if there is an error extracting it has probably been corrupted in some way.

Cheers,
Adam

The box making gadget remembers all previous settings, but resets the allowance to zero! Please can it be updated to remember all previous settings, including allowance? Thank you.
The more I learn the more I forget.

All it would take is a couple of added lines in the .LUA script to set the allowance to a default just like the other entries.

You've installed a version meant for V9 not V10.

This is the correct link - https://gadgets.vectric.com/V10/box_creator.html

I seem to be experiencing an issue when using this gadget with V11. I set up my job then run the gadget but instead of fitting the objects within the boundaries of the sheet they draw off of the sheet even though there is ample space within the sheet. Am I missing something??

As you're using the finger joints you can move the vectors to wherever you want them and recalculate the toolpaths. Using the nest tools (if available in your vectric software) is also an option.

The gadget doesn't try to fit the parts on the material. It just creates them.
