The Dovetail Gadgets are a powerful addition to the Vcarve Pro and Aspire software. The gadgets create the angular dovetail joints from the top of the material down rather than the traditional method from the side and using a special tool, this top down approach allows you to use a regular end mill to create the desired joint.

Thanks, Scott,
That worked for the Chamfer gadget, but not the others. I don't have a previous version of VCP to copy from, I'm new to all this CNC stuff.

Hmm...should work for all if it works for one:(
Are you showing data in the downloaded application files?
Maybe Adrian will kick in, and I'll see if I've got them in another location also.
NICE little town for a boat:)

Gang aft agley,
I'm trying to install the dovetail gadget in version 8.0 I have 8.5 also but read someplace 8.5 doesn't have gadgets? i'm not seeing a gadgets tab in 8.0 either
Desktop versions do not support gadgets and no trial version does either. If you have a professional version of Cut2d/VCarve or Aspire then they should work.
Hi again, Scott,
Problem sorted - I have now successfully installed all gadgets.
When I was going thru' the instal process, I was not "unclicking" the version 8 box.
Both are ticked, whereas normally none would be selected in an installation wizard.
Thanks once again for your help. If you are ever in Cannons Creek I will pour you a beer!
Regards,

It is too bad that none of the gadgets will work on VC Desktop. I can do some pretty nice work as it is but I could use some of the gadgets to get more out of my machine. At 24" X 36" my machine is as large as I can manage from my wheelchair; so upgrading to pro is an expense just for the sake of additional features that are free for those that can afford it or have machines large enough to take advantage of all of pro's features.
If you put your mind to it, you don't need gadgets to do what the gadgets do. If you learn how to do those things without gadgets, the sky will be the limit for you. People were doing these things long before there were gadgets, or even Vectric.
How are those features free for those that can afford it? That's a bit of a contradiction in terms.
There are many more additions to the product other than just the ability to machine larger jobs. Nesting and toolpath templates are two such features that cost more than VCarve alone when bought from some other companies and are every bit as useful on a 2' x 3' machine as they are on an 8' x 4'.
