EasyCarve - OUT NOW!

EasyCarve will be the successor to Design & Make Machinist and represents Vectric's first venture into cloud-based CAM software. EasyCarve is our first product to be produced 'in browser' and has allowed us to experiment with new technology which we can utilise for future enhancements of our core products; Aspire, VCarve and Cut2D.

EasyCarve provides a guided process to rough, finish and cut-out a single D&M model using custom tool properties and post-process the result using Vectric's managed post-processor set.

Functionality:
  • Access to over 7,000 high quality 3D models powered by Design & Make
  • Easy step-by-step process
  • Compatible with most CNC machines

I hope this isnt going to become a Vectric trend...
''EasyCarve is offered as an annual subscription and is exclusively available through the EasyCarve website''

Hate companies offering subscription only...

Then don't use it. It's not supplanting any of their other offerings. For those who have a need it is available.

Don't worry! We still see it as a core principle that our freeform design products - like VCarve and Aspire - will always have a 'buy it once, use it forever' perpetual licence.

I appreciate @JMBfestool's sentiment, but I can't say I hate *all* subscription software per se. I have Netflix and Spotify like millions of us, but I think it is really important draw the distinction between software that simply enables my subscription to a library of other people's work that I *consume*, as opposed to software tools intended to allow me to *create*.

Vectric's position is that its creative design software will never lock you out of things that *you have made* simply because you no longer pay an ongoing indefinite subscription. Your designs are yours. Our installed software will also not 'auto-magically' change overnight or update without your express permission - many of you are in production environments. Our freeform design products all come with a generous period of updates included. After that you can *choose* to upgrade to the next version (or wait a release or two) but ultimately if you unplug the internet, never update Windows(!) and keep your increasingly ancient laptop in tip-top condition your original software will keep on runnin' 8) Our support team will confirm we still have happy customers using VCarve Wizard (Vectric's first product from 2005!)

EasyCarve is different. It replaces the old Design & Make Machinist and its sole purpose is to faciliate really easy access to the 7,000+ pieces of professionally designed 3D CNC artwork that our team are actively adding to every month. You can think of it as a subscription to the library - more like being a member of a club. If you stop paying for your membership, you will no longer have access to the libary (but all the toolpaths you may have created and downloaded from EasyCarve will *always* remain yours and will keep on runnin' forever). Although this is a different approach, I hope you agree that it seems appropriate and sounds pretty fair? If not, stick with VCarve and Aspire and buy your models from Design & Make as you need them - best of both worlds!

I hope this helps to clarify our position. Cheers,

E
