Alain Vaillancourt 'The Woodpecker' – CNC Dust Shoe

Post by Olly »

CNC Dust Shoe

At Vectric, we are passionate about supporting our customers to get the very best out of their software. This month we introduce the latest FREE project made by Alain Vaillancourt ‘The Woodpecker’ who has made a really useful dust cover for his CNC. He’s also provided the files for you to replicate including an SVG file and a file in VCarve format so why not try making this for your own CNC?

As a precursor to this project, Alain amazingly repurposed an old Mitutoyo CMM (coordinate measuring machine) into a new high-precision CNC! As his CNC moves on air pellets, he wanted to have as little dust as possible so he made a dust cover that fits over the spindle using spare wood from his hop – in this case a recycled cupboard drawer.

You may recognize Alain from his highly popular YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCsdIj ... KkbVI5y8bQ but did you know Alain is also a retired TV video editor at CBC Montreal? Woodworking has been his hobby for the last 30 years and it’s clear to see his professional, honest and well-finished projects are a real hit with the maker community. As fellow woodworking enthusiasts, we hope you will also enjoy making this handy project for your workshops.
