New FREE Project - Retro Candy Dispenser

Post by Olly »

With V12 comes the ability to design and draw in the 3D view. If you have not tried it yet, then this video will be a great introduction for you! Todd will design and draw the plans for a fun retro candy dispenser all in the 3D view showing how easy and fast it is to use this new workflow.

Starting from a sketch as a guide to the real world size, Todd can quickly transfer its measurements and create the initial vectors needed. Using some of the built in vector editing features he will then break the design down, move parts onto the necessary layers, and then to the proper sheets. From here there are just a few simple toolpaths to be made, and some tricks to get a "chamfer" effect so the candy rolls out easily… maybe a bit too easily… :)

This is a fun and satisfying build that has a tasty end game! For all of you old enough to remember the gumball machines of the past this will bring back some memories! Don't forget this design could also be customized for your four legged friends as a pet treat dispenser. We can't wait to see what you do with this project!

Have fun making, and make fun stuff!

A very DANGEROUS machine ! Well, for me anyhow, I cannot resist M&M's, absolutely no will power whatsoever.

As a makerspace, we still are under an older version of VCarve Pro. No luck opening the files. Any change of fixing this ?

Marcel.

Hello Marcel,

If you have not migrated your Makerspace over to V12 yet, please drop an email to support,
they will be able to walk you through the process.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks, Mark

I truly appreciate your / Vectric's / client support.

This was the last mail we got from Vectric regarding updates:

---------------------------
Dear Makerspace Admin,

This month Vectric released a significant v11.5 update across our whole core product range. As you know, your members use our VCarve Pro Trial Edition to create and cut projects using the VCarve Pro Makerspace Edition, which is installed on-site at your Makerspace - usually on a PC connected to your physical CNC machine.

In the coming weeks we will be announcing exciting changes and improvements for our Makerspace community as part of a specific VCarve Pro Makerspace Edition v11.5 free update for you and all of your members. However it is very important that, for the time being, you and your members continue to use v11 of the VCarve Pro Trial Edition and do not update any installed Trial Editions to v11.5 just yet.
---------------------------

As we got no other info - yet - consequently we have not been updating- neither Master nor trial / client versions.
So it seems we missed a mail or so... I'll contact Vectric Friday next.

Marcel

'Tub': 5 mm. plywood, lasercut, to be conected to main part with magnets.
