Hey Steve,
VCarve cannot import a 3dclip file

Re: Text on a convex shape
Isn't the .3dClip format distributed with V-Carve? I've never owned V-Carve but I thought all of the clipart was the same.

Re: Text on a convex shape
Nope. Models included with VCarve are all in the proprietary v3m format.
The Aspire software can use both 3dclip and v3m formats.
So, if you create a 3dclip from a model created in Aspire (which I have done religiously for years), it is useless to a VCarve software user. Instead, you could save/export as STL, for example, so the VCarve user can import that.

Re: Text on a convex shape
The documentation for VCarve back as far as 9.x mentions importing and exporting 3Dclips but the actual program doesn’t match the docs.

Re: Text on a convex shape
Well, If the 3dClip didn't work then an .stl file should. Here is the link.

Re: Text on a convex shape
How odd! It's clearly a mistake/oversight for that to be stated in the VCarve documentation.
VCarve has never been able to import 3dclip nor export an individual model to 3dclip (or to export to any other 3D model type).

Re: Text on a convex shape
From v11.0 Vcarve Pro docs: https://docs.vectric.com/docs/V11.0/VCa ... -3d-model
Elsewhere it mentions exporting by using the context menu on a level in the component tree.3D Clipart files are exported from VCarve Pro. This format maintains the component structure of clipart pieces at the time of saving, so will import all the components comprising the clipart piece. This will be imported at the size and position the part was saved in the original file.

Unfortunately, this is incorrect. The documentation is describing Aspire-only features, despite the fact that it says VCarve will perform those functions.

Re: Text on a convex shape
Of course. Simply have a 3d model of the shape loaded and "aaply toolpath to Model"

Re: Text on a convex shape
If you're using VCarve then yes you need to create a model of the shape you want to project onto if none of the supplied shapes are suitable.Nero-12345 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:58 pmIt mean ragt i habe to create the stl file in Another Programm and import into vectric

If you have Aspire then you can create the model directly.
