level spoil board for Zenbot 4896

Post by conleyshepherd »

Hi all, Newb with Aspire and CNC here.

Need to shave the spoil board to level out the surface. I had some uneven cutting and would like to get this as flat and consistent as possible.
In Aspire - do I just set a 4x8 work area, set a depth cut to .050 until it is all flat?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

I create a rectangle the diameter of the bit bigger than my table and then create a pocket toolpath set to raster in the direction of the longest axis. Some people prefer to do an offset pocket but whichever you prefer.

Make sure you have trammed your router or spindle especially with a larger diameter surfacing bit to avoid uneven surface with ridges

Make sure your larger cutter is truly flat on the bottom and don't specify a stepover larger than that flat to avoid ridges.

Thank you all! got it done yesterday no real issues other than the 4x8 spoil board was off by about an inch on one side.

Going to tackle the tracks and clamps today or this weekend. Got a good vacuum system. Need to refine my dust boot though.
