Aspire import of SVG resizes the objects
I have a cut plan that is 11x5.25 - when I import the SVG into aspire, it gets resized to 8.75x4.25 - This is not good. please see attached

Can you attach the SVG file? (You might have to ZIP it first to upload it). I'd like to look at the actual XML in the file.

Re: Aspire import of SVG resizes the objects
It's a common issue with CAD/CAM software and SVG files. SVG imports can be affected by stroke widths, DPI settings etc. It's primarily a format used for web graphics rather than CAD.
As you know what size it should be you can use the resize tool to scale it back up or use a different import format such as EPS, DXF etc.

Surrey? I lived in Woking for 2 years. Back in the states now - missing the cold draft ciders and Friday fish and chips lunch with a pint!!!
Attached the SVG file
The DXF does import as expected. Tried that.

Re: Aspire import of SVG resizes the objects
I live in South Surrey now on the West Sussex border but I worked in Woking for years.
Not sure what's going on with that SVG file to be honest. It imports at tiny sizes for me into Aspire 10.5 and if I open it in my web drawing software (Xara) it comes in with lines that are 23pts wide.
As I say I generally try to avoid SVG as an import/export format for anything where size is critical. I've read on forums for lots of different CAD software people having the same issues so it's not just a Vectric problem.

Thank you for the reply Adrian, much appreciated!
Re: Aspire import of SVG resizes the objects
Earlier this year I had a project that had 24 different slices that was converted to STL. Because each piece was hollow, I had to take it into ZBrush to fill each piece. The problem I had was ZBrush's size update had a bug so after making several parts twice, I started resizing in Aspire to the part I made previously. Everything was a double-sided cut. A later ZBrush update corrected the sizing problem. I also had the same problem using NetFabb.

Re: Aspire import of SVG resizes the objects
If you view the SVG file in a text editor you will find out a few of things:conleyshepherd wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 3:41 amI have a cut plan that is 11x5.25 - when I import the SVG into aspire, it gets resized to 8.75x4.25 - This is not good. please see attached
- this SVG originally came from F_u_s_i_o_n 3__6_0
- the units specified in the SVG file are centimeters
- given the widths and heights specified in the SVG file I suspect that when exported it was not at 1:1 scale
See attached file.
EDIT: Damn you forum software for substituting "other software" for what I originally typed forcing me to use "_" characters.
