linear lines not consistant

Post by Jbenson »

I have a 6090 CNC using Aspire 11 and Mach 3. the issue is I made a test project that will create a 1", a 2" and a 3" line. I get the 1" to come out perfectly but the 2 and 3" lines are both longer than they should be with the 3" being even longer. I adjusted the "steps per" under the motor tuning in order to get the 1" to come out correctly but it seem the linearity isn't correct.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Do not adjust axis resolution settings by cutting. Use a steel rule (Starrett is best) a narrow angle vbit and use nearly the full travel of each axis

Thank you for the reply

For clarification are you saying to create a file that moves the axis the total working length of the machine and measure the results?

Use Mach3's axis calibration rather than your own file.

Videos explain better than I do.

In the Settings tab
just above the Reset button is an Axis Calibration 'Set Steps per Unit'

Choose an axis to calibrate
select a distance to move
after moving check the distance and enter it in to Mach 3
Mach will calculate the steps and offer to update.

Do this several times.
