Today when I started up my CNC Shark to make a sign, there was no movement on the X axis. The Y and Z worked normally, but, even though the window in the "jog" function shows the location changing as I try to "jog" the router into position, the motor that is supposed to turn the lead screw does nothing. Does this sound familiar to any one? I rebooted and checked wire connections but nothing helped. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Dan

Re: X axis malfunction
Hi Dan,
you can try this:
- connect the 'X'-motor to the 'Y'-output of the controller
- jog the Y and if the motor moves the X-motor is OK
and after that:
- connect the 'Y'-motor to the 'X'-output of the controller
- jog the X and if that does not work you know the X-output is the reason for your trouble
Good Luck to you
John

Re: X axis malfunction
hi dan
bad to hear it... but might be a settings problem only...
chek first your stttings in your controller program, like mach3, turbocnc.... and check on make sure the output is goes on the right pin...
of your description i think you hear no noise from motor...
if all settings are right, then you can check hardware... like unhook your X motor and hook example the Y or Z motor, on the X controller...which one simpler... and try to take a few steps in jog mode...
if it shows movement then your X motor is bad, might be the wire "loose"...
if it doesnt work with other motor too, then your X axis controller doesn't work...
it sounds difficult but you will get trough...
thanks viktor

Re: X axis malfunction
Dan,
I have a Shark as well. My suggestion,, send it back. I have tried to fix my problems before and Tim is always the best choice.
