Thank's for the link Phill,
I will have to pay VAT no matter where it comes from, so is this one made in Germany or is it still Chinese being sold from Germany, I do like German made tools,

I got mine from solar.jean on ebay. It's been great and their customer service is amazing. They sent me a free replacement spindle because the first one made a whining noise so now I have a backup.

It sounds like you got a really good deal there, lucky you, that is a nice set up you have, is the dust shoe fixed to the spindle?

Thanks, no it's just an oak diy dust shoe clamped to the spindle.
Or yep if by fixed you mean attached. :)

So when the spindle goes up and down the dust shoe moves with it, my setup is having the dust shoe fixed to the machine and the spindle moves up and down inside it, I never though of doing it your way, are there any problems with it

No not really. It does make a mess If I'm doing a roughing pass with a long bit that sticks down farther than the bristles.
I've seen the stationary ones and thought those would be great but I already made mine.

Yes that is what I was thinking, the bristles need to reach the material you are working on first, I set mine on the material and fix it there then the cutter moves up and down freely inside the slightly bigger than the spindle opening

The bristle plate is held in place with magnets to make bit changes and zeroing easier. Some people have long bristle and short bristle plates but I'm not that worried about the mess.

Anyone know where you can find the weights of the HY spindles? They don’t seem to mention them on eBay.

HY 2.2KW 4 bearing, Water cooled is 11 pounds and 1 oz. I just happened to have a spare spindle and a scale laying around and nothing else to do at the moment. :D
