What is difference between CNC Shark II and Next Wave - SHARK HD400?

Post by kristenanne77 »

I think I am finally going to gravitate from my home made Shapeoko2 to a more professional machine.
I am looking at the CNC Shark II , and Next Wave - SHARK HD400. They both cost the same amount, and look like same physical dimensions. Also they both have Virtual Zero software I would like to have. The CNC Shark II says it has Nema 23 stepper motors but I am not sure about the Shark HD400. I would want a minimum of Nema 23s.
Is one an older model? i can't seem to find any comparison between them.
Does anyone have either of these machines and might know the specific differences between them?

For not much more $$$ you ought to take a look at vendors like Avid CNC. https://www.cncrouterparts.com/index.ph ... 7ioaib4o27

I think you'll get much more for your money. I saw them at the Denver meet last year, and they looked really nice. A lot of options to set up your own custom machine.

One thing to consider is that the Sharks come with all of the software necessary to go to work. No need to purchase additional CNC software.
Good judgement comes from experience.

I saw some specs at one time that said the HD 400 had machined linear rails instead of round rails, but now I can't find that and all the pics I've seen show round rails...you may consider making a call or email Next Wave Automation.
