Any 5' x 5' CNC machines out there?

Post by CanisLupus »

I'm working with someone looking for a 5' x 5' CNC router for woodworking and light plastic work. Are there any turn-key (off-the-shelf, ready-to-go) machines in this form factor?

I know that probotix.com frequently makes custom sized CNC for customers. You might have your friend email support@probotix.com. I own one CNC made by them, and work with three others made by them and have always been happy with support provided over the years.

You might give Avid a try, Those machines are easy to customize.

Camaster cobra comes in that size. Maybe they would do a custom size in a cheaper model if money is an issue.

You could also take a look at Ez-Router.
They make custom build, turn-key machines.
After visiting their facility, I ordered a custom built (turn-key) machine from them in 2007.
When it arrived in South Africa all I needed to to do was to attach the gantry with spindle, connect it to the supplied computer and start cutting.
They are situated in Mineola, Texas.

Let me just throw this out there. A 5x8 machine would be the same price (or very nearly, since its not custom) and if you buy a 5x5 it won't be long until you REALLY wish you had a 5x8!!! Fine for cutting 5xx5 sheets, but its no fun cutting down 4x8 sheets to fit on your machine!
