Re: Dust Management
Here is my current dust collection (4 inch pvc) layout with gates. I've added where I think my sensors and buttons should go. After looking at this, thinking I need to increase the main run to 6 inch PVC.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Dust Management
Party Time!!! I got a box of parts tonight and as you can see... the servo fits! Now to build an arm and the other parts. If I do not sleep... I may have a working gate in the morning!!!
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Dust Management
Thanks, I have been looking at the electrical boxes and the cost. So, I will make my own boxes and covers. I will post some pictures when I land on a design and working prototype.
One more thing, I am thinking about posting all of the models on thingiverse or do you think there is a better site? Anyone use Thingiverse?

Re: Dust Management
Thingiverse would be a good place, use it all the time. I've been building a lot of my own boxes too.
What program are you creating your models in?

Re: Dust Management
They look great. Are you using Arduino or Raspberry Pi? Python?
This got me interested, so I bought a Raspberry Pi 4 4GB and breadboarding stuff. This looks like fun to play with. .....says the Geek with 40+ years of system programming. I'm already looking at the Pandora Pi apps for touchscreen. This is gonna cost me a mint

LOL!!! Jim is getting both of us fired up Gerry. I've already got a nice collection of Arduino stuff, so I'm just waiting to see how this all turns out.

Re: Dust Management
I have both Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I think the Arduino would be best. If I connect the power to my lights, the Arduino will boot in a loop function. here is the list of items I am building with:gkas wrote:They look great. Are you using Arduino or Raspberry Pi? Python?

Jim, just a thought, should there be some consideration for EMI?

Re: Dust Management
The CAT6e should be ok with Electromagnetic interference. I just tested a 75ft cable ran throughout my shop looping around running machines, no issues with gate open and closing.highpockets wrote:Jim, just a thought, should there be some consideration for EMI?

Re: Dust Management
Great project - watching with interest!
Just a thought on your pipe diagram. Ideally the Router table, Jointer, CNC, and lathe should all have their own port from the main trunk line.
Sanders and saws should be fine "ganged up" on a branch since they produce mostly fine dust.
Again, just a thought.

That is a great suggestion, I am thinking I will repipe the system after I get the auto gates working.
Thanks,
Jim
