Scaling Off

Post by Cardan »

Very new to the CNC world.
Just tried my first cut with Cut2D Desktop 10.503. I was cutting a 1-inch wide strip with a slight curve. The final pieces actually came out to about slightly less than 7/8".

I am using a 1/4 inch bit on the machine and setting up for a 1/4 inch when programming the tool and toolpath via Cut2D.

For the Machine Vectors, I am setting it as Outside / Right with a Conventional direction, and 0 offset.

I design in Sketchup then export/import as a PDF and then rescale to the dimensions of the board size. The rescaling does not seem to impact the final scale in Cut2D as the piece does measure back to the 1-inch width I am going for.

Any ideas as to what the issue could be? Thanks in advance.

Post your Cut2D file. That way we can look at it, otherwise it's a lot of guesses.

Thank you for the response. I was hoping it was going to be something easy :)
Below is a link to the file. For some reason this forum does not accept files with a ".GCODE" extension.

I am using UGS Platform if that makes a difference. Thank you again.

We need the file with a .crv extension. It is the one you get when you do a file save in Cut2D. It can be attached here.

Sorry about that. Still on the learning curve of all this.
I can't find the original crv from the one I sent earlier but here is another one with the same issue (I cut from multiple files as I was experimenting with layout and not paying attention to final dimensions).

This CRV example was cut with a TRIAL VERSION of the software. It cannot be read by anyone else. How did you cut with a trial version?

The last file sent (trial version) was the only CRV file I saved, which was before I bought the license.

Apparently I have not been saving any of the crv files after I exported to G-code.

I will run another test and report back. Thank you for your time. I do apologize. (I'm still on the bottom of the learning curve).

No problem. Just post it when you recreate it.....
