Trouble with Bosch router

I've been using a Bosch Colt 1.0 HP router for about 1 1/2 years and lately have noticed that when I'm V carving text the cuts are not smooth on the vertical sides of the carve. While looking over my machine I noticed that the bit moves slightly when I apply hand pressure in a horizontal direction. It also makes a sound (crunching is my best description) when it moves with hand pressure.
Has anyone experienced such movement with the Bosch Colt. I may need to buy a new one if I can't figure out what is wrong.

Could be the bearings are done. If you search there are many sites that offer bits, including Bosch.

Not sure if this is for your router, but you can see what is available. Oddly, the bottom bearing is shown as obsolete for this router ... maybe bosch specific.

If you get teh specs, VXB.com has a lot of bearing types ...

How long have you had the router? Have you check the router to see how much runout you have? The tolerance in most routers is not very good. There is a lot of play. If the bearing is old then there can be even more. This could be the reason you are getting bad cuts.

Hi: I use the bosch colt on my 2 machines. They both get the bearings and brushed replaced once a year. Takes about 15 minutes to do the job each. I order at least 4 sets of bearings and brushes at a time along with bearings for my orbital sander. It's all cheap maintenance on your very important tools. Norm
