Use approach

Post by JuMaRe »

Hi
I mill normaly 2mm Aluminium Plates. I use a 3mm router bit and use two passes.
if i use the "Use approach" function, it is only used for the first run when i use "single last pass" at same time.

When i dont use the "single last pass" than works "Use approach" on both passes.
Is this a bug?? I want combine "Use approach" and "single last pass" but i dont know how it works.

I always create two toolpaths so I have more control over the last pass. I then use the Merge Toolpaths to create one toolpath to send to the machine so that all the parts are cut in the correct sequence.

Doing it that way gives you far more control as you can set different RPM, feed rates, ramps, leads etc.

I assume it's because the last pass is a very thin cut used to clean up the edge from any witness marks from plunging or ramping so it was never designed to use a ramp.
