I am looking at carving two sided tap handle that has mirrored text on the second/bottom side.
I have tried the mirror function in Vcarve and it always places the second in what it know to be the bottom position yet when I preview all sides it shows that the mirrored text is on the opposite side of my workpiece and not below it. If I copy the vector and ask to move it to the other side, it seems to do this properly. What are the best steps to take a vector of text and create a two side mirrored job? I have attached a super rough idea of what I mean. Can include the actual vector as it is a copyright vector provided to me.

Re: Two Sided Mirrored Tap Handle
Seems like when I create the first side, then copy it (Ctrl-C), then move my screens to the bottom side (using the toggle button on the top) and paste (Ctrl-V) it is doing what you want. When I use the Copy to the other side command, then it is backwards because it is trying to stay behind the top text.

Sounds like you're making more difficult than it needs to be.
I make tap handles all the time for a local brewery.
I design one side, cut side one flip over the blank, cut the second side and then profile.

How is that simpler than setting up a two sided job?

Jay, your first post mentioned "mirrored text" on the back side.jaymcd0626 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 10:31 pmI am looking at carving two sided tap handle that has mirrored text on the second/bottom side.
Do you mean that the tap handle text would then be viewed by customers correctly in a mirror behind the taps?
Otherwise, to answer your last question, just flipping your tap over in a fixture means that you are only using one gCode file for both sides. That's simpler.

Re: Two Sided Mirrored Tap Handle
To add to Tex’s comment. If the profile of the handle is not symmetric then 2-sided is necessary.
