Homing with a surfacing bit

Post by fig.11 »

Hi
I'm getting ready to flatten a birch plank and I've realized that the center of the bit (Amana RC-2255) will not touch the homing probe that is built into the table. There is a separate zeroing probe, but how do I "home" with this bit?
Thanks for any help.

As long as any conductive part of the tool can contact the probe, it should be fine.

Just make sure that the conductive part is the tip of the cutting edge and not a recess in the middle of the cutter.

The 'interesting' bit is trying to probe with a Diamond Drag bit! Those don't conduct electricity...
