Sketchup 2021 to V carve pro

Post by DGF »

Hi, I am trying to import my drawings to V carve pro, but always have the same message that the 32bit version of vectric only supports Sketchup 2016 and earlier. I realise I can save as a 2016 file - but this is 5 years on from 2016 and shuely it must recognise newer releases? Can anyone help

It depends on what you're trying to export from Sketchup to VCarve. If it's simple 2D drawings then you can export 2D drawings as DXF or SVG. If you want to import a 3D model, then the best bet is to generate an STL from Sketchup and import that as a 3D object into VCarve.
Complete Sketchup drawings have too much superfluous information that isn't useful to VCarve.

Sketchup dropped support for 32 bit platforms in 2017. The import libraries are 32 bit to 32 bit and 64 bit to 64 bit hence you can't import a file newer than 2016 as it won't be in 32 bit format. It's a Sketchup issue rather than a Vectric one.

what version of vcarve are you running? There has been a 64 bit option for vcarve since V8, it was one of the main reasons for me upgrading at the time. Do you really need to be running vcarve as a 32 bit program ?
