Struggling with Trace Bitmap

Post by MichaelM »

I've imported an image sent to me by a friend. We plan to work on this Monday and hopefully run it on my CNC. The image is attached and you can see it has a black background. When I trace it, I use the color option and I'm able to select the right colors to get decent details. The first time I struggled to move the original bitmap away from the tracing. After I did get it moved, I realized I missed a color. So I undid my trace and did it a second time. Now I can't figure out how I moved the original bitmap off the tracing the first time! With all the color, I can't see the pick boxes to know if I have it selected or not. I think the first time I just got lucky. Can someone help me out with how to move the bitmap off after a successful "Trace Bitmap"?
Thanks!

Maybe turn off your bitmap later?

Ok, how do I do that? I'm a fairly new user of Vcarve Pro. I'm mostly stumbling my way through the software and relying on YT, the Vectric Tutorials, and the forum for help.

The bitmap should import onto its own layer. Simply click the lightbulb icon for that layer (in either the layers tab or the layeres drop down menu in the toolbar) to hide it.

Go to Layers, select the bitmap layer, and turn off it's visibility.

Hint: Don't just watch the Vectric tutorial videos, work along with them.

Of course! I have been working along with the tutorials. I forgot the layer could be turned off! Thank you so much! I'm going to try this right now and see if this get's me moving along with the project again.
Much appreciated!

I can't believe how easy that was! I definitely won't remember about turning off the bitmap layer in the future! Thanks so much for that tip! I know I've seen it, but I haven't used that myself yet! Brilliant!!!
