I am totally new at this. Purchased OneFinity Woodworker with J-Tech laser. Have VcarvePro w/laser module and post processor. Before I worry about feeds and speeds Got it and have it assembled and have played with in a bit. Then I realized I need some advice on what type of bits you use for carving/engraving etc. I understand that almost everything is an end mill or a v-bit, however, as I shop I find there are hundreds of different types, shank sizes 1/8 to 1/4, multiple flutes, no flutes, on and on. Help please - What's a reliable starter kit? Recommendations for what to use for the different cutting profiles in the VC program toolpaths? Should I just set up each toolpath profile and use various bits to run them (at various depths) and see what happens?
Thanks, Piddlin'

It is an older thread (2012) but much of the information is still accurate, though the web links may be stale.
