Radius Guide

Post by Charlie_l »

I posted this on another forum so I'm sorry if you are reading it twice.

I know there are many ways to solve a problem. Maybe others will add their solutions?

I have always wanted an easy way to pick the right roundover tool. Often the customer says I want this edge on a project. Just like the sample piece they bring with them. Or, I just don't remember what I had used previously. So, then I have to guess which tool to use. I made a simple template for something to use to try and measure an existing radius. Rather than grabbing a sharp tool off the wall. Or in the case of larger diameters pulling out circular objects around the shop.

This is roughly a ten inch diameter piece of plywood. I planned to cut from plastic, but this test piece is probably going to work fine.

Charlie, that's a good tool. The only thing I can think of are edges that aren't a single or constant radius may throw a kink in the measurement. You may not have run into anything like that.

You might want to add the other side to that story and build the tool that does convex curves.

A very wonderful idea. Is there any chance of the file being backward compatible to VCarve Pro 9.5?

Thanks, Robert

As Charlie put it here for anyone to download and use, I trust that he won't mind me posting it as a dxf, which Robert can import into his version of VC.
