Poker table

Post by edcross »

I have desktop v 10 , i drew a poker chip slot for a poker table - 6.5 in long x 39mm wide x 1/2" deep skinned it in my cad program so it would be dished , saved it as dxf file . Imported it to desktop , set it for subtract , when i wanted to use a ball bit to cut it , it would not accept the bit.

Hi Ed,

It sounds as if you just saved the vectors from your CAD program instead of an actual 3D model. Is that the case?

NOTE: You may be able to use Fluting or Moulding Toolpaths instead of a model (or use one of the rounded-over Tab models included with your Vectric software, if you prefer to Raster carve the chip recess)

The Moulding Toolpath yields a good result (better than the Fluting which doesn’t yield a proper arc for a round object like a poker chip).

There is one rounded-over Tab model which works also (add a Zero Plane and make the tab Subtract Merge).

I think between all the options, I would prefer the Moulding Toolpath.
