Simple ARC trick

Post by gkas »

There has to be a simple answer to this, but it eludes me....

I created a rectangular box. Go to Node Edit Mode. Hover over top span. Hit 'A' to convert to arc. I get a concave arc, not convex arc (dips, not rises). How do I get it to draw convex (bulges)? I didn't know it could even do concave.

In the middle of the arc is a grab handle that you can drag to change the arc to one that suits your need, concave or convex.

That is correct. But, if you can use 'To Arc', the arch is the perfect radius. No measurements needed.

Hi Gerry,

Try this:

- Select the rectangle, then press the letter "V" (This flips the rectangle vertically without changing the position)

- Now, do the node edit "A" to see if the arc is now being created as convex

I think I understand what you are trying to do.
As a test I drew a rectangle and hovered over top the span and hit A. The arc went up. I changed the direction of the start point and tried the same thing. The arc went down.

Hope this helps

Yup. All has to do with the start point/vector direction (flipping is a quickie technique)
