Painted wood (carve-through)

Any way (and I think not) to setup a simulation such that the wood (whatever color it may be) can be represented as being painted a certain color, then carve through the paint to the underlying wood color? Just wondering. I seem to do this a lot and it would be nice to be able to simulate it.

If I'm not mistaken you can set the material colour and the toolpath colour in Preview Toolpaths

....second thoughts... Having re-read your question I can see the problem. My suggestion doesn't work.

For the preview, set up an extra toolpath that pockets the entire work area. Set the depth to 0.005". And set the toolpath color for that toolpath to your paint color.

This will give the top surface a color and the Vcarve will still be wood grain for the preview. Just don't forget to delete the toolpath prior to cutting the project.
Hope this helps.
