Aspire since 2 days, here are some designs of me

Post by capnl »

Hello from Zuidland, The Netherlands,

I have been operating Aspire now since 2 days and I used the namesign example for my own design, a namesign for my mothers home.
My dad, who passed away 21 years agoo made a namesign for the house of just a plank of hardwood and cut the lettering by hand.

Now in the year that my mum will be 75 years old I like to give her a new namesign for her birthday.

The first design shows the name in Latin of a Gennet in the banner, a seabird living in the North Atlantic.
This bird is called in Dutch "Jan van Gent" which also happend to be my fathers name........

I need to work (sculpting) the shape of the birds head and tail a bit.

I personally like my second design more

It shows the head of the bird with its particular lines like in the picture below.

The name will be layed-in with leaf-gold and the birds will be painted white with the black wingtips, the birdshead in the 2nd desing will be painted accoring to the picture of he 2 birds.

I will make an example first in high density foam to see the result in real, after that I (or my mum) have to decide what design will will her 'present' ( the other design wil almost sertainly be made for promotional purposes in my workshop.

I'll keep you posted of my progress.

I really love the Vectric software so far

John,
Looks GREAT!

I think on the second one, you should try to sculpt the bird and see what
that looks like!

Post when you have the sign finished!

That is excellent work!! I vote for number one.

It seems you sure have a good handle on this Aspire thing.

Your designs look very nice, I could not resist making a quick 3D model of one of the birds heads. See attached image and zipped CRV3D file, perhaps that can be used as another option...

Cheers,
James

Hello all,

Thanks for your replies, all credits should go to the guys from Vectric Software for developing this wonderfull software !!

Ruud,
dank voor de complimenten

the #1 birds are 'just' seagulls (zijn dus 'gewone' meeuwen)
the #2 birdshead is the Gennet (dít is dus de Jan van Gent)

JamesB,
thanks for your effort, I was gonna try to sculpt the birdshead in Aspire on of these days but since I only use the software for 3 days I did not get a chance to try all possibilities of the program.

Thanks for the crv-file I will use that for version #3

James B,

one question:

how can I import the crv-file of the birdshead into a new aspire-project ??

I seem to miss the correct 'button'

John,

Under File Operations, select the icon that says "Import a component or 3D model"

Thanks Tim,

I did this action before but the head did not appear on my screen,

it was outside the boundaries of my material (and of my view)

Hey John,

Nice work! But I have a question : Which material do you mean by high density foam.

Can you give me some more info about it.

Perhaps in Dutch, because I'm from Belgium ( Omgeving Antwerpen )

Thanks

Erik
