Try Brass Brush or sanding mop (www.stockroomsupply.com). Not sure if they can get in those holes or not.
The small hand brass brushes work pretty well - I get them at a carft store here in the states called Hobby Lobby - about 3 for a $1.

I've been considering a new product by Flexcut. http://www.mountainwoodcarvers.com/flexcut.htm Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

If your sanding it down to bare wood I'd go with the brass brush's as suggested. You can use the brass brushes with some lacquer remover. For a more gentle touch use cotton buds dipped into the lacquer remover to get into those areas. I don't like restoring old items, it requires too much patience for me.....good luck! :) If you don't need to restore it for a particular reason, why not make a new one, it would be easy with VCarve Pro. Take a photo of the side, trace it, cut it!

I do a lot of "small" cutting and I use orange sticks (http://www.absolutesci.com/shopexd.asp?id=22331 like the ladies use when working on their fingernails. I use it like a scraper to remove the fuzzies in small places. It is hard enough I can dig out the fuzzies, yet not so hard I damage my carving.

I made my own sanding mop of sanding cloth (20-30mm in diameter), use with small hand milling machine (28.000 RPM), work great to clean up V-carved parts
