Not sure yet what to put in there. And I have not added the locking pin yet.
Maybe an idea to build on for the creative folks here...

Very clever and unique idea. I like the dowel assembly also. How did you sand the inside?

Nicely done! This is a case where BB or bamboo equivalent really looks great.

Some with an oscillating multitool sander but mostly with elbow grease and a foam sanding pad. It helps to make sure the CNC cut is clean and as unfuzzy as possible.

Hardwood (maybe alternating species and alternating grain directions) would also look great but probably need more wall thickness around the dowels to avoid breaking apart.

I agree with Joe that the bamboo ply in that circumstance makes a very nice look Tailmaker! :)
