Ax handle

Post by JeffZ »

I made this in Aspire. It was my first time using the modeling tab, and also my first two sided job. I Just roughed in the handle area and did a finish pass where it mates with the head. This was in some fir i had lying around, so it will probably break if I actually try to chop wood with it. I mostly wanted to practice the 2 sided machining and see if it fit right. I have some black locust lumber drying I will use for the next tool handle I make.

Looks great to me. Thanks for posting your photo of it. Any clue how long each side took to cut?

the roughing for each side was about 20 minutes, and about ten for each finish. around an hour total. here is the file if anyone wants to make one or mess around with it.

Any chance you could save the file as an STL or an old version so more people without 11.6 can open it?

Here is my first Axe Model. It is a bit rough especially top and bottom areas. Needs a bit more work in fine tuning it. But not bad for a first.
Oh and it is not created with Aspire, Sorry! But when finally finished I can create the model in several different model file formats (.stl, .obj, step, SAT).

Good Job on the Axe Handle!!!

You might even consider sharing your model (saving it as a .stl) for those who do not have Aspire! That is of course, only if you wish to share your axe handle model!!!

Again nice Job!!! :)

As noted in previous post I have created the Poll Axe Handle in another software!
