Re: My First Large Project
That's an impressively complex design! Is it made of individual fitted parts, or several larger 3D carved sections? Just planning and assembling the pieces, either as a large glue-up or individually carved pieces, must have taken a long time. Not to mention the machining time either way.

Re: My First Large Project
Thank you! It is made of 12 individually carved panels glued together by tongue and groove. Each panel took about 7 hrs to carve. The design in Aspire was relatively straightforward but with lot of remakes it took me about 2 weeks to come up with what you see. Obviously, with all the experience I gained it would take me a lot less time to make it again. Still learning ...

That reminds me of a quote attributed to Pablo Casals, claimed to have been said well into his 90s. When asked why he continued to practice every day, he said "I'm still seeing improvement."

Re: My First Large Project
Impressive Piece!!
On first glance I thought the details were feathers,
but then on full sized pic was VERY pleasantly surprised to see crystal shaped details!
(although the funkiest crystal formation I've ever seen:)
At one point, I went through my mineral specimens looking for one to have a "Brady" scan,
but always had so many undercuts it wasn't really accurately cuttable.
VERY well done!
Congrats!!
