Trying to break out of a non carving funk I decided to try making a small Odin from a model I purchased. This is as small as I could go and still get okay results. It is approximately 5.5” H 4.75” W and .75” thick. I used an .125” EM for the roughing pass and a .25mm TBN for the finish pass. I put 1 coat of minwax poly so far, I think I want to try and glaze it to try and make it pop after a little touch up sanding.
Thanks for looking !

Re: Odin in cherry
NICE piece Scott!
I wasn't sure I'd like the glazing rather than letting the Cherry come into it's own in the sun first,
BUT have to admit that looks Great!
(Liking the size also:)
Hope it got you out of the funk!
Seems like a lot of people are the same...
I know the heat and record humidity the last few days kept me out of the shop.
That model does look nice, and almost bought it, but still have bought models Uncarved:)
Great piece!!

I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself

I really like the glaze. It add some depth.
Imagine the Possibilities of a Creative mind, combined with the functionality of CNC

Re: Odin in cherry
Definitely looks better with the glaze, you get to see more detail and it suits the model
Nice work

So..
For those of us that are more mechanical than artistic.
Could you describe the process you used for that glaze?
I have attempted just that with zero success.

Re: Odin in cherry
So I am still learning this, What I would suggest is watching some of Michael Tylers videos on the Vectric web site. During his project of the month videos he explains the process.
My simple process is to seal the carve with either wipe on poly or sand sealer. Then I water down some acrylic paint and just dab it on with a brush and wipe it in and off.
