Colorado Rocky Mountains Topo Relief Map
This has been a fun project. the wood is Cherry, size is 22" x 26". to create this map it took 2.4- million lines of G-Code and 17- hours of cutting time. Designed in Aspire 10.5v

Nice job Doug. It's hard to tell by the pictures, was the dark area done with stain or a laser?

Could you explain in bit more detail your finishing process. I really like the effect it creates.

This is how I do the finish
Start with 1-2-3 finish to bring the grain out that I make. one part Boiled Linseed Oil, two parts Polyurethane oil base, Three parts Mineral Spirts.
First coat of Conversion Varnish
Paint on the Glaze with a brush, let dry and rub off what you wont
Second coat of Conversion Varnish
Your done
