Pikler Triangle (Climbing frame)

Post by martin54 »

Not really a CNC project but when you can draw the vectors in next to no time & then just know that once it is all cut it will fit together just as it should then why not

Daughter in law asked me if I could make this for my Grandson's first Birthday, who am I to refuse, worst thing about doing this was that I don't have a 4th axis & my wood lathe is not long enough to hand turn the dowels, even if it was I doubt I would have the skill to produce perfect oak dowels. So I had to buy the Oak dowels from one of the timber suppliers I use. The 2 triangles & the legs were cut from wood I bought from Scottish Woods who I buy most of my Hardwood from.
I was going to paint the name but couldn't find a suitable Blue so ended up doing a resin inlay for the name.

Not finished yet but will probably just get a couple of coats of varnish or spray on polly.

Interesting and fun project, Martin! Great job, and I really like the epoxy-inlay you did too!

What a good idea a skill builder for toddlers,
I had a chuckle when you said its not really a CNC project because I use mine for nearly all wood projects because I don't have the most accurate pencils these days . The resin inlay looks great, I am sure your grandson will be very happy to use the frame..
