Loved the look of this model so I carved it some walnut I had, 1/4 EM for rough pass, 1/16 TBN for finish pass except for arm logo. For the arm logo I used a .098 TBN.
So far I applied 1 coat of Tried and True finish.

Impressive. You have to name this dude. How about a Roman general name like Marcus Elaphantus?

I guess we think alike, I just bought this model from Myminifactory to slice and make a full 3D model similar to my Komodo Raider. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=36127 Where did you get your carving?

Re: My latest 3Dwave.us carve
Nice carve Scott!!
Looks like he wants to stand up:)
You going to hang him up or make a stand?
Oh....I know you've been watching Bill and I use our heat guns, so just a word of caution on
Black Walnut heartwood that may(or may not apply) on first oil coat.
When doing buttons in walnut, we did a double boiler Linwax hot immersion, and a few times
mixture may have exceeded 150F(maybe around 170F problems showed(?)) and about 1 of 4
button batches, the walnut wood fibers lifted.
Barely noticeable to sight, but they felt AWFUL and caught on fabrics.
Not hard to sand down with 600G, but on 3D would be a PITA.
I'm always cautious with heat gun now with walnut heartwood.
Blow dryer would rarely be a problem, but heat gun I set at lowest temp and keep it further away
for lower heat.
