Mantel

Post by paul1200 »

Thanks to Michael Tyler, made these out of pine to start as per Michaels design and was so impressed with the result I decided to make them as a two sided project out of oak. I then made the L frames creating the profiles using A two rail sweep, a good learning curve.
I then set about the mantel itself using a length of 4" x 1" oak using a similar two rail sweep I'm sure there must be a simpler way, I then constructed the shelf using oak veneered board for the top and bottom and wrapped the profiled piece around the front and sides. I am really pleased with the result, just need to finish the rest of the fire place now.

The corbels really work well in the design.

Many thanks for all the positive comments, just need to get to grips with my own complete design.
