Oak Footstool

Post by wood_fly »

Footstool: Because it should have the old school feel of a railroad bridge and the modern engineering of the space shuttle :D ! Made from Red Oak. I used an offset profile path to cut out the front (yes, that is all 1 piece) rather than a standard V-carve which would have taken longer and made dust instead of just a few neat pieces. Then I V-carved with a 60 deg bit. Was also fun to use aspire to play with the hexagons until I got a good 1/4" between each to make it strong. Cool little COVID project

Very nice work! Abraham Darby would be impressed... and probably amazed.

That's one of those projects you can't stop looking at. It's too bad it'll be hidden under a desk. Great work!!

Thank you all for the kind words. What I found is that it is most comfortable to pivot on the far corners and rock back and forth while working. Glad it's strong <g>.

And I like it too which is why it's under the desk or I might stop and stare too often at it <g>

The more I look at it the more I admire the design and execution. Well done.

The design is beautiful and the riftsawn oak is beautiful. Simply stunning. Get it out from under the desk, it is a wonderful piece of art.
