Life Bowl for Dads 80th brithday

Post by Aki-kun »

Hi,
A Life Bowl for my dad's 80th birthday with many stations of his life.
Made of walnut.
Almost all reliefs are from photos. Machining time was insane: 8 x 10h

I am very impressed. This is a great tribute to your father. The thought, planning and designing, workmanship and assembly in this project speaks of love and admiration for a truly great man and of a son that that is willing to go the "extra mile" to show it.

WOW is right....Very impressive work. I am going to be 80 this year also, and what a great way for him to look at all of life's experiences that he has seen and done. He will be very pleased and impressed I'm sure.

Was this all done on the rotary, or did you machine the pieces on the machine bed and then join them for the final rotary work?

Interesting bowl. It makes one think about their own stations. I'm also impressed with your workshop in the last picture showing at least 2 lathes and many chunks of wood. Depicts a busy shop.

Very impressive project. I'm sure your Dad will be speechless at first but will be very appreciative after he gets over his emotional response. My father has passed but this life bowl has me wondering what images I would put on one for him.
Thank you for posting. :)
