Santa Believe Puzzle Frame

Post by gkas »

I showed my wife the puzzle generator from TailMaker. She immediately said "That's what I want for my Santa Believe frame". Case closed.

Light wood, 1.0" Beech I believe. Lots of testing for fit. I came to realize the Allowance Offset would change with ANY change in the generation of the frame pieces. So, once I made sure that everyone was happy :D :D :D with the fit, I cut out the entire frame. I used a extra long 1/8" bit. Much deflection. I now have it figured out how to cut it with a 1/4" bit. Everyone is happy, the wife has her unique frame. ....and I save a BUNCH of bucks on framing. I used to do all of my own framing on my own photographs.

This gets me out of making 'the same ol' stuff'. I've made more frames than I can count. This, and last years Santa frame add some fun to my project, and the wife gets very unique frames. Good all around. I try to get her to present unique ideas that I may not think of.

I've just done several more intarsias, and to avoid deflection and/or breakage of the small bit, I increased the passes by 50%. Little slower but worked good. By the way, great job on the frame.
