Child's rocking chair

Post by dealguy11 »

This was a fun little project for my granddaughter. Not a huge technical challenge for Aspire, but sometimes the simple projects are nice, too.

I really love doing projects for the grandkids, and I'm sure this project is special to you also. I can see it in your work, job well done.

I am just a hobbyist and really enjoy doing these kind of projects. Did you design it your self or adapt it from another plan? The wood looks like Walnut?

OBTW: Really nice job.

There was a similar project posted on this forum awhile back where the parts loosely slotted together with a key in the back to hold it all. I wanted something more solid than that, so I adapted the design (which I think was adapted from an earlier design anyway) and made a few changes, such as the stops at the end of the rockers. I wish, in retrospect, that I'd routed the joinery with the CNC, but it worked out. The wood is walnut, milled 7/8" thick (wanted it to be sturdy). Nice thing about owning a cabinet shop is the cutoffs!
