Most of what I know about wood working came from WoodSmith and Shop Notes. When I got started a friend at work loaned me a big stack of his WS and SN magazines. Now I have all of them up to about 5 or 6 years ago. Every now and then I haul them out, pile them next to my chair and go through them again. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in wood working. And the big bonus is NO ADS!!!!
You can subscrijbe to the online version of Woodsmith magazine and get all current and back issues. They also have a searchable index.

I bought the USB stick a few years ago for both of them.

Beautiful work Steve, Great finish
Thanks Doug, Coming from you that's quite a complement.

I finished it with 2 coats of shellac and 3 coats of Waterlox tung-oil based urethane. All sprayed with a small HVLP sprayer and a light sanding between all coats. There are many who dis-like urethane because it tales 1 to 2 days to dry between coats. But, for durability, there is nothing on the market that is better. Also, Waterlox urethane is clear and non-yellowing.

Thanks Scott. It's all boxed up and ready for shipping to my grandaughter. So, after tomorrow, it will no longer be mine.

Hope there's someone to take a pic or video of her face when she opens it!

I would sure like to be there too. She is a Pediatric/ER nurse on travel assignment in San Diego, CA and should be home in Austin, TX by the end of the week. Hopefully, it will arrive at her house before she does.

That Will be a tough choice if it's there Steve.....
Decompress from a tough worthwhile profession/sort junk mail and do laundry......
OR open up the heavy mysterious package from her Grandfather?

Yep...a real tough choice :) :)
Happy tears maybe when she opens those drawers:)

Handcrafted gifts with lots of thought and effort and quality are rare these days....
Yours makes the grade!
