Lounge Sign

Post by Beltramidave »

Project finished up last week for a local resort's lounge. Designed in Aspire, created using cedar wood and finished with spar urethane.

Also used the new laser module on my cnc running Linuxcnc machine control software and a JTech 7W diode laser.

Nicely done.

Now, on to more important things. . . . like sending me some Walleye!

That is something I really miss in this neck of the woods.

One would think if you live on a lake that you would have fish in the freezer, but I haven’t had much chance lately to fish.

LOL, I hear ya.

After my father retired he bought a bait shop in northern WI. It used to crack me up, people would come in and ask him where the fish were biting. He would look at them and say "how would I know? I am in the store all day."

I was fortunate to have been able to attend one of the InFisherMan weekends with Pro and Celebrity fisherman at Camp Fish. My first outing was with Dick Sternberg who put together a very nice series of fishing books. We caught a ton of walleye during about a five hours period. I did the same the next day with another guide whose name I don't remember. We had one fellow show up in his suit and silk hosery barely able to get out of NYC due to a tropical storm. We put together enough clothes for him to have a great trip while there. He decided to go after musky and nailed one the first day out that was a monster. The doctor that was with me and I both forgot our walleye fillets that were in the freezer. That was the only sad note of the trip. What fond memories that made for me.
The sign is very, very nice. Thank you for sharing.

From concept to the finish...Well Done!
GLAD I don't have a rule like that in the shop though! :)
I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself

Nice sign. The variation in the sign shape and style is very pleasing to the eye.

Thanks for the comments. The sign was roughly 24x24 and took a total of 4 hours to machine. I (and the customer) was very happy with the results.

Could you give the source for the walleye file please?
I have a friend who runs a very small charter operation from a small town in Indiana to Lake Michigan and would like to make a personalized sign for him.
It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
