Fireman’s Cross in Avonite

Post by Rcnewcomb »

Fireman’s Cross. Total machine time 57 minutes. Finish pass used a 0.5mm tapered ballnose.

This is the final figure from the Avonite piece that I had on hand. I would definitely use 0.625” Avonite again.

ALL the cuts you've made in that look extremely well Randall! :)
Were any of the Avonite cuts made with with an offset toolpath?
Just wondering:)
Well done and Great detail!

Because I usually work with wood I always use raster for 3D toolpaths.

Thanks Randall!
I was just curious about the material.
I have cut quite a few 3D's from Cherry to Cocobolo using Offset and small stepover with good results
using Engraving bits(and even the .25mm TBN) and a Conventional cut and a .01 Lift.

Randall a great work of art.
I have seen a few of your other works with Avonite and they all turned out with a stunning finish.
I am sure we must have something similar here in West Australia under a different name its just a matter of tracking it down.
